These wildflower mixes are usually used for field margins, buffer strips, field corner management, beetle banks and set aside land/blocks for increasing the pollen (P) and nectar (N) species rich flowers to attract pollinating insects.
These management practices are sown to create a habitat for small mammals, invertebrates and birds. Their main purpose is to protect vulnerable areas, such as water courses, from agrochemicals and fertilisers but with the addition of wildflowers it also increases biodiversity and attracts pollinating insects. All of these mixes can be used for entry level and higher level stewardship schemes.
