Brown Patch Lawn Disease

brown patch lawn disease

Identifying markers:

  • Circles of dead sunken grass up to 1 metre diameter.
  • The perimeter is smoky grey in colour as the grass blades darken then wilt and die.
  • Typically happens  when the weather has been warm to hot with high humidity.
  • Wet leaves left on lawn, over fertilizing and excessive watering can promote the spread of this fungi.
  • Mostly happens with perennial rye grass and bent grasses but can also occur in smooth stalked meadow grass.
